A Sound Map of the River Clyde 2026 - Workshop with Action Pyramid
Come join us and make a Sound Map of the River Clyde. Whether you're completely new to field recording or just need a refresher, join one of our free summer workshops led by Tom Fisher (Action Pyramid) and Counterflows.
Open to everyone and free, the workshops cover:
- Using field recording equipment - Listening and recording techniques on location - How to contribute recordings to the project - They're also a chance to meet others interested in sound, listening, and the River Clyde.
Choosing a Workshop:
No previous experience is required—just curiosity and an interest in rivers.
Each workshop visits a different location and offers a different experience. Some include a playback session, while others involve longer walking routes. Please read each description to find the workshop that best suits you.
Sunday 9 August, 10:00am–5:30pm
GLOSS 5 Florence Street, Gorbals, Glasgow G5 0YX
Travel between locations on this day will involve some walking, but it won't be strenuous.
We'll begin at GLOSS with an introduction to the project and the recording equipment before travelling to Frisky Wharf, Bowling, for a field recording session. We'll then return to GLOSS to listen back to and discuss the recordings together.
Travel expenses and lunch are provided. Please bring waterproof clothing (weather permitting) and anything else you may need for working outdoors.
