Trasna Rovers present the Trasna Cup! The inaugural first birthday celebration of our little DIY football club.
Meeting at Holmlea Park pitch at 11.30a.m. with tour commencing at 12p.m.
The aim of the Tour-nament is to play on as many free public football pitches in one day as possible, with teams drawn at random on the day from the pool of players in attendance. All levels of experience encouraged to participate!
The tour will travel around free pitches in Glasgow’s southside, starting in Battlefield at Holmlea Park and finishing at our spiritual home of Govanhill Park for the finals at approx 5p.m. followed by a little party and potluck!
Along the way we will stop by for a chat with the wonderful people behind First Hampden, a campaign formed by local residents in opposition to Glasgow City Council’s proposal to develop on the site of Scotland’s first national football ground and the world’s first purpose-built international football stadium. First Hampden have a vision to bring the site into community ownership as both a heritage site and a modern community hub!
Trasna Rovers formed in November 2025, inspired by our good friends at 1815 Football Club in Dublin and Glasgow’s Secret Groundsman. We play games open to all twice a week around Glasgow Southside’s free pitches.
