Aphty Khéa / deergrid / Bestiary
Join us at MESH for an evening of bold queer performance.
Making their Scottish debut, APHTY KHÉA blends driving beats and memorable melodies that journey from satisfying harmonies to distorted, aggressive shouting - 'rage rave'. Based between Berlin and London, their top-lines are performed in English and Greek, and their productions explore the world of electronica, specifically techno-punk, electroclash, electropunk & UK rave. Lyrically, Aphty ventures into social commentary, navigating cisheteropatriarchy, queerness, mental health, antifascism, anticapitalism and even... a zombie apocalypse.
deergrid are multiinstrumental musicians and composers who met in a transfeminist reading group. A collaboration borne of a shared guilty pleasure soft spot for sad boys with guitars, Maia and Rubie’s writing together spans experimental folk, math rock and chamber pop, with sprawling storytelling songs featuring a autistic selkies, avanti heartbreak, and homoerotic misrememberings of youtube lore.
Bestiary use rave-inspired electronic improvisation to explore themes of ecology and transspecies love.
